Day 8: Throwback to BHM 2019, when CP hosted a couch talk for Black Women in STEAM (pictured and unpictured) to speak about their journeys in STEM and the Arts and more! ❤️🐝🖤 There’s so many that should be celebrated during this month! Day 7: Dr. Tamika Ray-Head, STEM founder, veteran, woman in aviation, educator, wife, and mother, is our highlight and #WCW for today! We want to emphasize the mother role that she plays within her family, in the STEM community, and for Caterpillar’s Promise since its earliest stages being ran by a then teenager. She serves as a CP advisor, partner, and mother to an E-STEAM mentee graduating high school this year. She was undecided about what she wanted to be as a child, maybe because she would grow up to accomplish many things. She founded PinkSTEM in 2012 after her Military Experience. Previous to PinkSTEM, she was an Air Traffic Controller where she was one of few African American women represented in a male dominated field. She went on to become a respiratory therapist trainer with multiple accolades at Travis Air Force base in California. She has obtained 2 Associates Degrees, her Bachelors, Masters, a Doctorate, and an Education Specialist Degree in Education. She has also served as a middle school teacher. The list could go on. Day 6: DJ Lewis, Director at a business tech company and philanthropic leader, is our next highlight. DJ graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering. In his time in college, he joined the Nu Mu chapter of Alpha P
Day 6: DJ Lewis, Director at a business tech company and philanthropic leader, is our next highlight. DJ graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering. In his time in college, he joined the Nu Mu chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Fun fact: He, alongside his Alpha brothers, helped to polish the step choreography in the first WGO production for CP while also volunteering for other CP programs. DJ is well-known for his success in the tech industry, working for companies, such as Google and IBM. However, he has also made a footprint in the philanthropic industry e.g. receiving the 2023 Member of the Year Award for Emerging 100 of Atlanta. When DJ was a child, he wanted to be an aerospace engineer, but now he is another type engineer that helps boys and young men reach new heights and helps elevate corporations with cloud-based solutions. Day 5: Today we’d like to highlight Kyle Woumn, GA Tech 40 under 40 and Forbes 30 under 30 awardee. He is an E-STEAMed Silicon Valley tech lead and serial founder. Kyle graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Computer Science. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma, an organization that has volunteered for multiple programs with Caterpillar’s Promise. Since graduating, Kyle has co-founded multiple companies, tech platforms, and movements. Some include Overflow, Shopr, Drakestagram, ‘Over the Top’…the list goes on. He is currently an engineering manager for NerdWallet, a proud husband to his college sweetheart, and a well-traveled tech influencer. His younger self would be so proud given he wanted to be a computer engineer and work for Apple as a child. Easy to say that he surpassed that dream! Jemison through a black history project in elementary school and became inspired to be just as extraordinary and “E-STEAMed” Dr. Mae C. Day 3: Congratulations to Chase Dupree 🐛 🏈 for breaking the football passing record in Bibb County history as a 10th grader! He is a former E-STEAM student during CP’s virtual sessions during the pandemic when he was a middle schooler. In STEM, Chase loved to design and program computer keyboards to be tailored to any individual’s liking. However, he is gifted in both football and basketball. He does all this and yet maintains a 3.9 GPA as a now 10th grader! Godspeed Chase! 🥇🐛🦋 #caterpillarspromise #BHM

Day 2: Elyse, a young author and entrepreneur..and CP E-STEAM program mentee! 🫶🏾🐛 She started with us as early as 4 tagging along with her older brother. (Swipe left for some archives). Now she just celebrated her 10th birthday! Our goal is to “E-STEAM” the youth but most times the youth ,like Elyse, E-STEAM us. She published her first book, Always Believe in Yourself, at 7 years old. She has since published an accompanying activity book. She does dance, piano, soccer, golf, and violin. She also sings in her Church’s Youth Choir and serves as an acolyte at Church. When she grows up, she said she doesn’t know what she wants to be, but she says she can be anything she wants to be. Happy Black History Month! ❤️🐛🖤Let’s start day 1 by highlighting a young black woman in STEAM who just so happens to be apart of CPromise’s executive board! Deja is a Supply Chain Program lead for Johnson & Johnson who recently was selected to interview Nia Long. She also manages her own travel company. She is an alumna of Georgetown University with a degree in computer science. She finishes her dual masters degree program from FAMU (MBA + MS in Supply Chain Management) this semester. Tis the season for giving! 💵🐻💌This December, we were able to kickoff our inaugural scholarship program by awarding Afeni Laws, a CP@GT student, as our first awardee! Students were able to apply based on merit and need. Also, we were able to keep
Tis the season for giving! 💵🐻💌This December, we were able to kickoff our inaugural scholarship program by awarding Afeni Laws, a CP@GT student, as our first awardee! Students were able to apply based on merit and need. Also, we were able to keep the decade old tradition alive by crafting 35 teddybears and 35 cards for the children’s hospital in Middle Georgia! In addition, we donated loads of toys and clothes for women and children to Atlanta Mission! This holiday season, remember that it is indeed better to give than to receive! 🐛🙏🏾 #caterpillarspromise

Today is CP’s founding birthday! Ms. Teresa was the initial seed investor, who provided the space at her church youth lock-in and $50 to get supplies for the teddybears. Mrs. Ray-Head is a longtime partner, mentor, and parent of CP mentee who worked with the founder teaching STEAM at her first job as a summer camp counselor. Daylen and Kayla Stone are long-time contributors of CP who both started through participation in WGO concerts and productions. Tia Calhoun is a CP@GT alum who starred in all WGO productions and led E-STEAM programming while in college. She is also the person behind all CP event decor. Elyse Sayers is an E-STEAM mentee, and now 9-year author, who started as early as 3/4 years by wanting to tag along with her older brother who started in the program first. Trejah Love, is an E-STEAM mentee and his mother also participated in CP’s last WGO production. We are Caterpillar’s Promise! We are so grateful! 🐛🙏🏾
